A $5 tag to say thank you for 2018!

What a year 2018 was! Our first full year of operation included lots of new flavours, a fantastic team, and some awesome events. And as 2018 comes to an end, it’s a reminder that a great time to give is now.

For the final weekend of 2018 before we close for the month of January, The Merry Dairy will be giving a $5 gift certificate (one per email address!) to all who tag their favourite charity in the comments below, or on these Facebook, Twitter or Instagram posts!

Then just fill in this short form (also below) so that we can email your gift certificate to you by email in early January! But make sure you’ve done this by midnight on Sunday, December 30! On December 31, we’ll do a post listing all the charities.

We’ll get the list rolling by tagging OrKidstra, who was our charity of choice for December when we committed a portion of our sales all month. We are happy to report we beat our own goal and raised over $500! Thank you for making The Merry Dairy part of your holiday tables, birthdays and other special events!

David Suzuki Foundation, because climate change is the greatest issue affecting the Earth today. Without dealing with it, then there will be much more suffering than what all the other charities are seeking to address.

Canadian PANS/PANDAS/AE Charity because PANS/PANDAS/AE are only recently becoming recognized by medical professionals, who in the past have overlooked these conditions because of a lack of knowledge and/or because the symptoms are similar to those of other conditions. There are a number of Ottawa and area families affected by this devastating illness but there are no local resources for appropriate treatment. https://www.gofundme.com/6hcuu3c?member=1215986&fbclid=IwAR3C2n3yWWLz-3jD2fCEzzHeYbQ0uWkBAJMGht0c0lUr4A6tv0siTmWy1Y0

What a great idea!My chosen charity is HIPPY — Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, which provides a free preschool program to newcomer families and low-income families living in social isolation, who cannot afford preschool. The core of the HIPPY program is a structured home visit that delivers a curriculum based on the needs of children to become school-ready. Well-trained peer Home Visitors deliver books and high-quality curriculum activities directly to parents who then work 15 to 20 minutes a day with their own three, four, and five-year-old children.

Ancoura is an supportive charity Ottawa group that consists of residents , volunteers, and staff. Now entering its 12th year of operation- Ancoura has 7 townhomes each consisting of three residents, Ancoura’s subsidized housing also includes professional support and volunteer support for the residents , all experiencing mental health challenges.
Each resident volunteer provides a weekly interaction for one of the homes. ( ie. coffee, walks, movie night, etc.)
Great organization! Great Volunteer Board of Directors always looking for Ancoura fundraising opportunities !

The charity I choose is Youth Services Bureau. This year I participated in the YSB SleepOUT for homeless youth for the second consecutive year. While the SleepOUT raises money for homeless youth in particular, YSB is a Youth Services Bureau is a multi-service agency that provides services in French and English in employment, health and housing, mental health, youth engagement and youth justice. We work in partnership to develop, deliver and advocate for better conditions, services and opportunities for youth and families.

I vote Boxer Rescue Ontario to win as they tirelessly help ALL Boxers to get vet care and a furever home. Their idea is to make sure no Boxer ends up in a shelter so that that space is available for another dog.

St Vincent de Paul provides jobs for those who find it difficult to get mainstream work – when that is even available. That is why we support St Vincent (Saint Vinny’s for most of us).
